If the audio waveform on the recording button doesn’t move while you’re speaking, it’s likely that Tiro is unable to detect your voice due to one of the following reasons:
1. Microphone Permission is Blocked in Chrome
Open Chrome and click the three-dot menu at the top right > Settings > Privacy and Security > Site Settings.
Under the Permissions section, select Microphone (or copy and paste the following link into your Chrome address bar:
chrome://settings/content/microphone
).Check whether
tiro.ooo
is listed under Blocked or Allowed.
For Tiro to recognize your voice, it must be listed under Allowed.
Q. How do I move tiro.ooo
to the "Allowed" list if it’s under "Not allowed"?
Click the trash icon (Delete button) next to
tiro.ooo
to remove the block.Create a new note in Tiro, and Chrome will prompt you to allow microphone access. Click Allow to enable audio recording.
To avoid receiving this prompt every time, choose Allow while visiting the site when prompted.
2. The Microphone is Muted or Misconfigured on Windows
If you’re using a Windows computer, the system microphone may be muted or set to an inactive input channel.
For Windows 11:
Go to Settings > System > Sound > Input and select your microphone under the Input Settings section.
Check if the microphone icon shows a slashed line (muted). If so, click the icon to unmute it.
Use the Test Your Microphone feature to ensure the selected microphone is functioning correctly.
For Windows 10:

Right-click the speaker icon in the bottom-right system tray and select Open Sound Settings.
Navigate to the Recording tab, right-click your microphone, and select Properties.
Go to the Levels tab and ensure the microphone volume is appropriately set.
Note: Some Windows laptops have a physical "Microphone Mute" shortcut key (e.g., F4 on Lenovo ThinkPad laptops). Check if the microphone was accidentally muted using this key.
