Is recording not working in Tiro? The cause and fix can vary by your environment. Find the guide that matches your situation.
You can use Tiro in a web browser, the desktop app (Windows/Mac), and the mobile app (iOS/Android). Note that the web and the desktop app are different programs.
Web: when you visit tiro.ooo in a browser (Chrome, Safari, etc.)
Desktop app: the dedicated program installed on your PC
Symptom: your voice is recorded, but system sound / computer audio (video, music, etc.) is not.
Cause: web browsers don't support recording system sound due to their own security policies. This is a browser limitation, not a Tiro one.
How to fix:
Install the desktop app to record system sound as well
After installing the desktop app, system sound is recorded without any extra permissions
What is system sound?
System sound is any sound played by your computer. Unlike your voice coming in through the mic, it's the audio coming out of your computer speakers or earphones.
Examples:
Video calls: the other person's voice in Zoom, Google Meet, or Teams
Media playback: YouTube, videos, podcasts, audio files, and so on
Symptom: recording seems to have started, but the waveform doesn't appear.
Cause: microphone permission may not be granted, or the popup may be blocked.
How to fix:
Click the three-dot menu in the top right > Settings > Privacy and security > Site settings
Under the Permissions section, select Microphone
(or copy and paste this into the Chrome address bar: chrome://settings/content/microphone)
On the microphone settings page, check whether tiro.ooo is under 'Not allowed to use your microphone' or 'Allowed to use your microphone'
For voice to be recognized properly, Tiro must be under 'Allowed.'
If tiro.ooo is under 'Not allowed,' change the setting using the steps below.
tiro.ooo is under 'Not allowed.' How do you change it?
tiro.ooo: click the delete button (trash icon) next to it to remove the block.
When you create a new note in Tiro, Chrome asks for microphone permission again
Allow: click it and voice will be recognized properly
If you don't want to be asked every time, choose Allow while visiting the site.
After changing the setting, refresh the page (Ctrl+R or F5) and try again.
If you see the following, please contact Support.
Symptom:
You press the record button, but it just keeps loading
The record button presses, then immediately returns to its original state
Try this first:
Refresh the page (Ctrl+R or F5)
Quit the browser completely and reopen it
If that doesn't help, see the How to contact Support section below.
Symptom: your mic is recorded fine, but only computer audio (video, music, etc.) isn't.
How to fix:
Step 1: Check permissions
In the top right of the Tiro app, click Settings, then go to
Recording settings or Permission management.
Check that system audio permission is allowed
If it's denied, switch it to allowed and restart the app
Step 2: Check volume settings
On the recording screen, check Audio input or Source settings.
Check that the system sound input volume isn't set to 0
Adjust the volume appropriately
Step 3: If it still doesn't work
If the steps above don't help, please contact Support.

Symptom: recording started, but the mic waveform isn't moving.
Cause: the mic is muted at the system level, or microphone permission isn't allowed
How to fix: check your microphone settings for your operating system.
Windows Settings > System > Sound > under the Input section, select Microphone.
In the Input settings section, check whether the mic icon has a line through it
A line through it means it's muted
Click the icon to unmute (remove the line)
Test microphone > Start test: click it to check that your mic works correctly
In the tray area in the bottom right, right-click the speaker icon > Open Sound settings.
Recording tab > right-click Microphone > Properties.
Levels tab: check that the mic volume is set appropriately
Heads up
Some Windows laptops have a mic-mute shortcut key (for example, F4 on a Lenovo ThinkPad). Check that you didn't press it by accident.
For Tiro to record properly on a Mac, you need two permissions.
① Microphone permission
System Settings > Privacy & Security > select Microphone.
Find Tiro in the app list and check that the toggle is on
If it's off, turn it on to grant permission
② Screen & System Audio Recording permission
System Settings > Privacy & Security > select Screen & System Audio Recording.
Find Tiro in the app list and check that the toggle is on
If it's off, turn it on to grant permission
Note: you may need to restart the Tiro app for permission changes to take effect.
Symptom:
You press the record button, but it just keeps loading
The record button presses, then immediately returns to its original state
Try this first:
Refresh the app:
Ctrl + R (Windows) / Cmd + R (Mac), or click the refresh button in the top right of the app
Quit the app completely and relaunch it
If that doesn't help, see the How to contact Support section below.
Symptom: recording starts but stops automatically partway through.
Possible causes:
Your network connection may be unstable
The app may be running minimized
How to fix:
Check your Wi-Fi or wired internet connection
Check that the app isn't minimized
Minimized mode: when the app window is shrunk or minimized to the tray
Keep the app open while recording
If the problem continues, see the How to contact Support section below
Note For stable recording, use Tiro where you have a good network, and keep the app open while recording.
Symptom: the waveform doesn't move at all In this case, Tiro isn't picking up any sound.
Cause and fix:
① If you're trying to record system audio
On mobile, you can't directly record system sound (audio played by other apps).
② If you're using a Bluetooth mic
Currently, recording with a Bluetooth mic isn't supported.
Keep your phone's built-in mic close and try again.
Symptom: the waveform doesn't appear Your phone isn't picking up sound well.
Cause and fix:
① Audio interruption detection
If a call or audio from another app is detected at the same time, recording stops automatically.
When the interruption ends, it restarts automatically.
Note:
This feature exists to prevent lost recordings.
You can turn it off in settings, but if there's audio interruption, recording itself may stop and no notification may appear.
② Bluetooth mic support is coming soon.
Symptom: audio is coming in, but no text is generated.
Cause and fix:
① If the language setting doesn't match
Check that the actual conversation language matches the voice language you set.
② If the network connection is unstable
Real-time recording requires the internet.
If you turn off the screen during a real-time conversation, the recording may be lost partway through.
✔ In this case, we recommend using offline recording.
③ If the problem persists
Check whether your network changed, then contact Support.
If you're trying to record system sound→ This isn't supported on mobile.
