Offline recordings are saved to your device first, then uploaded to the server and converted into notes. If an upload stops or no note is created, follow the steps for the app you use.

Before you start

  • Make sure your internet connection is stable.
  • If you find the recording file, do not delete it until conversion or backup is complete.
  • If a recording may still be in progress, check its status before refreshing or quitting the app.

Desktop app

An upload failed message appears

Select [Try Again] in the upload failure message. If the network was briefly unstable, the recording uploads again and note conversion begins.

The recording was not converted into a note

When you reopen the desktop app, Tiro shows a notification if it finds recordings that were not converted into notes. Select [View recordings], or select [Unconverted recordings] in the left sidebar.
This screen shows offline recordings that were not fully converted during a previous session. It does not show a recording that is currently in progress.
1

Check the recording

Review the date, file name, duration, and file size. If the file is playable, listen to it to confirm its contents.
2

Save it as a WAV file

Select [Download WAV], then choose where to save the file. The original recording remains on your device.
3

Create a new note

Select [All Notes] in the left sidebar, open [File Upload] from the new-note menu, and choose the saved WAV file. Set the transcription language, number of speakers, and context, then select [Convert].
For supported formats and limits, see Audio File Upload.

Inspect or remove a recording file

  • [Show in folder] opens the folder containing the recording.
  • [Delete] removes the recording file from your device.
  • [Refresh] reloads the list of unconverted recordings.
Deleted recording files cannot be recovered. Save the WAV file and confirm that the new note has finished converting before deleting the original.

The Download WAV button is missing

A recording whose format cannot be identified cannot be played or downloaded as a WAV file. Select [Show in folder] to locate the original file. If you need the file, do not delete it and contact Support.

Mobile app

The mobile app keeps recordings inside the app. Open [Settings][Management][All audio files] and find the affected recording.
  • Select [Create note] to retry converting an unconverted recording.
  • Select [Play] to check the recording before conversion.
  • To keep a copy, use [Select] mode to download or share the file.
  • Pull down on the screen to refresh the list.
See Manage audio files for details.
Deleted audio files cannot be recovered. Deleting a note also deletes its audio file from the device, so export the audio first if you want to keep it.

If the issue continues

Contact us through [Support] in the Tiro app or website and include:
  • The exact date and time the issue occurred
  • Your environment (Windows / macOS / Android / iOS)
  • The creation time of the affected note
  • For desktop, the file name shown on the Unconverted recordings screen
