How you fix a login problem depends on the sign-in method you use. Find the one that matches your situation below.

Google sign-in is blocked by an account recovery or verification screen

On the mobile app, you tap Continue with Google but get stuck on one of these screens and can’t get into the app:
  • An account recovery prompt asks you to enter a recovery code.
  • A text message with a verification code starting with G- was supposedly sent, but nothing arrives.
  • A device that used to work suddenly shows this screen every time.

Why does this screen appear?

This screen comes from Google, not Tiro. When Google decides a sign-in looks different from usual, it asks you to verify your identity with an account recovery code or a text verification code (the G-code). The most common reason the code never arrives is that the recovery phone number or email on your Google account no longer matches the one you use now. Tiro doesn’t send this code, so we can’t resend it or skip it. You can fix it yourself with the steps below.

1. Bring your Google account recovery info up to date

It’s easier to do this in a browser on a computer or another device, not on the phone.
  1. Go to the Google account security page and sign in with that Google account.
  2. Check that your recovery phone and recovery email match what you use now, and update them if they don’t.
  3. If you have 2-Step Verification turned on, make sure it’s set to a method you can receive right now (your current phone number, an authenticator app, and so on).
  4. Once the Google account opens normally, go back to the Tiro app and tap Continue with Google again.

2. In the meantime, sign in on the web

If you need Tiro right away, open tiro.ooo in a browser on your phone or computer and sign in with the same Google account. Web sign-in works a little differently from the app, so it often gets through even when the app is stuck.
In-app browsers in apps like KakaoTalk or Instagram may block Google sign-in. Long-press the link and choose Open in your default browser (Chrome, Safari, and so on).

If it still doesn’t work

If you can’t get into the Google account itself and none of the above helps, we can link another sign-in method (such as email) to your existing Tiro account. Your notes, folders, and subscription all stay exactly as they are. Contact us through Customer support in the Tiro app or on the website and let us know the email address you use. You can also see the account linking guide in the Account FAQ.

You can’t sign in with a work or school Microsoft account

Sign-in to external apps may be restricted for Microsoft accounts managed by your company or school, depending on your organization’s security policies. First, select Continue with Microsoft on the Tiro sign-in screen and try to sign in.

Do you see a message that admin approval is required?

If your organization restricts user consent for apps, Microsoft may ask for administrator approval. Share the error shown on the screen and the following information with your organization’s IT administrator or security team:
  • Service: Tiro
  • Sign-in method: Microsoft work or school account
  • Requested action: Check whether the organization’s Microsoft Entra policies allow sign-in to Tiro and grant admin consent for the requested permissions
  • Items to check: User consent settings, enterprise app access, user assignment, and Conditional Access policies

How does an organization admin approve access?

User: Submit the approval request
  1. If the sign-in screen shows Request approval, submit the request.
Organization admin: Approve the request
  1. Open Entra ID → Enterprise apps in the Microsoft Entra admin center.
  2. Open the user’s request under Admin consent requests, or search for Tiro under All applications.
  3. Review the requested permissions in Tiro’s Permissions, then grant admin consent for the organization.
User: Sign in again after approval
  1. After approval, select Continue with Microsoft again on the Tiro sign-in screen.

Neither Request approval nor the Tiro app appears

In a first-time organization, the admin consent request workflow may be turned off and the Tiro app may not have been created yet. In that case, an organization admin with the Global Administrator role must open the request path first. Organization admin: Open the request path
  1. Go to Entra ID → Enterprise apps → Consent and permissions → Admin consent settings in the Microsoft Entra admin center.
  2. Turn on Users can request admin consent to apps they are unable to consent to.
  3. Choose reviewers and set the request expiration period. Designating someone as a reviewer does not grant approval permissions. Each approver must hold a role appropriate for the requested permissions, such as Global Administrator, Privileged Role Administrator, Cloud Application Administrator, or Application Administrator.
  4. Save the settings, then wait up to one hour for the workflow to become active.
User: Submit the approval request
  1. Select Continue with Microsoft again on the Tiro sign-in screen and submit Request approval.
Organization admin: Approve the request
  1. Review the requested permissions under Admin consent requests → My Pending, then approve the request.
If your organization’s policy does not allow enabling the admin consent request workflow, contact Tiro support with the error code and time of the error. We can check the Microsoft app currently used by Tiro and provide the next steps for your organization admin.
Whether administrator approval is required depends on your organization. If people in your organization can sign in with regular user accounts, no additional administrator setup may be needed.Calendar integration requires Calendars.Read. If MS Outlook calendar integration is blocked, ask an organization admin to open Tiro’s Permissions in the Microsoft Entra admin center, confirm that Calendars.Read is among the requested permissions, grant admin consent, and then connect the calendar again.
User assignment or a Conditional Access policy can still block sign-in after admin consent is granted. Check the Microsoft error screen and the Entra sign-in log, then follow the matching procedure.
  • User assignment required: Assign the user or group under Enterprise applications → Tiro → Users and groups → Add user/group, then sign in again.
  • Blocked by Conditional Access: Ask someone with Reports Reader or higher permissions to view sign-in logs to open the failed event under Monitoring & health → Sign-in logs and check the Conditional Access tab for the applied policy. Meet the listed requirements, such as using a compliant device or completing multifactor authentication. If the policy blocks Tiro outside the organization’s intent, ask someone with Conditional Access Administrator or higher policy-management permissions to adjust the policy’s user or app scope and access controls before signing in again.

Do you see a different error, or still can’t sign in after administrator approval?

If another Microsoft error appears without an approval request when you first try to sign in, or sign-in still fails after approval, contact Tiro support with the following information from the Microsoft error screen:
  • Error code
  • Date and time of the error
  • Work or school email address used to sign in
  • Screenshot of the error screen
The error code determines whether your organization’s Microsoft Entra settings or Tiro’s sign-in settings need to be checked. Repeating administrator approval without checking the error screen may not resolve the issue.
